Molecular biology

• DNA isolation from prokaryotes and eukaryotes, Plasmid isolation, Different cloning methods, Transformation of bacteria.
• RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, multi-parallel quantitative real time PCR and Affymetrix gene chips (ATH1 array) for high-throughput analysis of gene expression.
• Expression and purification of tagged proteins from E.coli.

Tissue culture and Plant growth analysis

• In vitro plant tissue culture techniques - initiation and establishment of callus/somatic embryos/ multiple shoot cultures of Sorghum and Tobacco, Agrobacterium mediated plant transformation, screening and evaluation of mutants for changes in physiological traits at the whole plant level.
• Experience with state of the art instrumentation to measure photosynthesis, plant growth and development as well as biochemical and metabolic characteristics of plants.

Molecular Markers

Computational biology tools
