Deep Learning Research Engineer (August 2017–Present)
Samsung Postech Intelligent Media Research Centre– Pohang, South Korea

• Project 1: Writing production level code using deep neural nets for a large-scale computer vision project for magnifying imperceptible motions from video frames. This work is the extension of the Visual Microphone technology by MIT CSAIL, USA.
• Designed and implemented an improved Sound Recovery Convolutional net for Visual Microphone (Speech recovery from silent videos) and refined the results using a bidirectional LSTM (DC Blocker RNN) and Bandwidth Extension ResNet.
• Target achieved within 5 months of an 8-month project.
• Project 2: Using the above deep net based visual magnification method to analyse the movement of structures to make behavioural predictions of such structures during calamities. This is a part of the Visual Vibrometry technology by MIT CSAIL, USA extended with the application of Deep Learning.
• Researching on the application of deep nets to theory of vibration and civil engineering, using computer vision. Implemented Bi-modal LSTM and 3D Deep CNN in Python and analysed the performance metrics with other state of arts for Visual Vibrometry.

Machine Learning Researcher (August 2016–February 2017)
Connected Computing and Media Processing Lab – Daegu, South Korea

Hand-picked out of 250 candidates for the R & D project (BK 21+) by the Government of South Korea, Ministry of Education.

•Identified the medical imaging problem of automatically detecting leukocytes in a blood smear image before the team.
•Modeled the problem mathematically as an optimization problem. Developed and presented an algorithm for solving the object recognition problem using Matlab and Python.
•Verified test results of the designed solution by comparing with existing medically graded standards showing 98.99% precision as compared to 81% precision in manual tests and maximum of 93% precision from other existing automated solutions.
•Collaborated with all team members while organizing research tasks to members under pressing deadlines.
•Published the results in the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence 2017, USA and registered the software with Korean Copyright Commission.
