Personal note /detailed application:

Dear Sir or Madam,

If you are seeking a petroleum engineer with a strong desire to apply current knowledge, team working and problem solving skills, and willing to work hard for success, I would like to submit my candidature. I have recently completed my degree in Petroleum Engineering from The American University in Cairo with a GPA of 3.32/4.00. During my engineering course I have gained significant knowledge of Reservoir Engineering and Simulation, Well Completion and Work-over, Drilling, Well Logging, and Well Testing.

During my short internships I got first hand exposure to various aspects of the Oil & Gas Sector. I had interned with Khalda Petroleum Company Cairo and learned communication between field and office regarding Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). As Trainee at Baker Hughes Workshop, Cairo I got exposure to tools used for various completion jobs viz. gravel packed job, open hole completion and cased hole completion. My knowledge of engineering aspects was further enhanced by visits to various professional institutions like Texas A&M University, Schlumberger Complex, Houston and El
Hassan Dome, Cairo. The academic projects that I completed were ‘Incorporating Advanced Drilling and Completion Techniques to Reduce Non-productive Time’ and ‘Improving Reservoir Management Techniques in Egypt Smart Completing Systems’.

My technical skills are complemented by my organizational, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, ability to adapt to dynamic environments, and multicultural exposure. I have honed these skills over various non-technical assignments that I have undertaken. These include
• Peer Career Leader at AUC Career Center: Organized four of the biggest events in the AUC annual calendar viz. Graduate Study Fair, Career Day, Employment Fair and Career Conference. Also managed communication with students and alumni, and provided guidance on services offered by the office.
• Secretary at Society of Petroleum Engineering: Managed various administrative tasks, and planned and organized events.
• Volunteer Work in Colombia: Collaborated with international trainees in organizing and conducting English classes for students.
• Volunteer Work in Ecuador: Worked with a multi-national team (members were from Poland, Japan, Peru and Germany) in an institute that was involved in combating cancer.

I would appreciate the opportunity for an interview at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincere regards,
Emad Alhattami
