As a professional I have been involved in development, design, construction and supervision of a variety of hydro-power-projects in El Salvador, Honduras and Panama. My job experience is based over more than 6 years in the area. My main activity is related to the design, analysis and calculation of non-hydraulic and hydraulic structures involved in the appropriate operation of such projects. I am familiar with design of small gravity dams (up to 10 m), retention and flood walls, surge tanks, slope stability, power houses and other miscellaneous structures to be considered for the appropriate operation of a project. I am also familiar with international design and material standards and provisions for ensure structural safety and integrity. My academic background is mainly based on structural analysis of R/C, steel and masonry structures and I acquire a Master’s degree in Disaster Management which was mainly focused on achieving resiliency of structures through the point of view of Earthquake Engineering and also other natural hazards.

This course was focused on the risk and vulnerability reduction of civil works, disaster management at different stages and threat analysis through the Earthquake Engineering point of view. Topics related to the earthquake phenomena, since its origin and behavior through soil layers up to the response induced to civil structures were comprehensively analyzed and discussed in order to maintain structural integrity and avoid collapse. Special interest was given to concrete and masonry structures against earthquake actions which are the most popular construction practices in Central America area.
