The aim was to develop NAS and RRC protocol stack which can later be ported and integrated into any existing Layer 2 stack for a complete solution.

1. PLMN Search and Selection(TS 36.304) (Sub clause 5.1) : Study ,Design ,Development and unit testing of this feature. This involved reading the information from USIM like PLMN ID etc and commanding the access stratum to send the NAS layer various PLMN ‘s available from reading SIB1 of various cells that are available. Updating the PLMN list.

2. Attach Procedure for EPS Service(TS 36.304) (Sub clause 5.5.1): Study ,Design ,Development and unit testing of above feature ,ASN encoding and decoding of messages. Complete attach procedure till getting the default bearer .

Porting of VPN Module from the VxWorks to Windriver Linux. Addition of IKE v2 protocol into the existing code base, optimizing the Linux kernel for the VPN.

The aim is to port the existing VPN subsystem from VxWorks to embedded Linux. The task involves appropriately modifying the bump-in IPSEC stack and IKE v1 to work on Linux. This invonlved making specialized kernel module which uses the NetFilter framework for capturing packet from the kernel and bringing them in user space for modification and re injecting back into the kernel. Implementation of proxy arp in the Linux kernel using NetFilter framework for phone when it connects to a security gateway which doesn’t support proxy arp. Making sure that RTP packets coming from VOIP phones are properly decrypted and we can make voice call in the VPN environment. Integrating IKEv2 into the existing IPSEC stack.

I was responsible for design and development of session Management system for the PDSN and was collectively responsible for creation and maintenance of GRE tunnel between the PDSN and Femtocell.
