Abstract:
Nowadays, development of underground cavities has increased specially tunnels for urban development. Attentively to affect of tunnel excavation on next construction, selection of optimum excavation method is important for prevention of next construction damage and economic justification of project. This thesis presents selection of optimum excavation method attentively to numeral form of tunnel and strength of excavated ground and it evaluates sequential excavation method for one of safest and most economical methods of excavation of conventional tunneling through no requirement to excavation machines and rapidly achieve it in TU phase of Amirkabir tunnel that it is selected for case study in this thesis.
On the other hand, tunneling always has risk in urban shoal zones which ground settlement and influence of tunnel excavation on surface constructions are most serious. Nowadays sequential excavation method has been utilized for constructing urban tunnels greatly as a result it must evaluate influence of this excavation method on the ground settlement. In this thesis, it has been used from tentative method and determinate difference numeral method for value of ground settlement evaluation due to sequential excavation in TU phase of Amirkabir tunnel value of settlement due to tunnel sequential excavation has been computed by Peck method and superposition element in tentative method. Numeral model of TU tunnel sequential excavation has been performed in 23 different phases by using PLAXIS software. Ground settlement maximum has got in tentative method is 38 millimeter and in numeral method is 40 millimeter which this difference points influence of tunnel excavation by sequential method on reduction of value of ground settlement because tentative method doesn’t heed tunnel support system influence in sequential design.

Research Experiences



- Ground settlement analysis in sequential excavation of urban tunnels:
o studying ground settlement in urban shoal zones and comparing tentative method results with numeral method results and comparing reached results with real values under supervision of Dr. Sharifzadeh for 2 years. This method was applied for all stages of tunnel excavation and was submitted in the master science thesis. These results was presented in my dissertation (Binocular Tunnel Induced Subsidence of Sequential Excavation in Urban Area – Case Study of Amirkabir Tunnel : ATS11-03327 Code) in First Asian and 9th Iranian Tunneling Symposium (November 2011- Tehran- Iran).
