Work Summery:
Objective: Perform load case simulation in LS Dyna for automotive latches for FMVSS 206 (Quasi static) and gear stop simulations (dynamic).
1. Tensile test (Quasi Static) : Understand the load case and create a FE model in ANSA with real life testing boundary conditions to check for maximum breaking force in latch in load test directions to pass FMVSS 206. This includes optimization of topology, material and overall thickness and size of latch components to meet FMVSS 206 standards.
2. Gear Stop simulation (Dynamic): Understanding the behavior of latch in lock to lock condition (abuse cases) and simulations of full latch to check stress and strains on plastic gears inside latch. This includes modeling of critical parts like motors, spring based contacts.
