Employees’ Admission Control and Potential Performance Evaluation Using a Wirelessly-Maintained Distributed Door-Entry System
* The thesis proposes a novel smart access control system for large enterprises. The proposed system performs the following functions: (1) limits access to secured areas in a given physical facility only to authorized users, (2) provides authorized users with configurable and differentiated access rights to the same premises based on their assigned credibility and time-schedules, (3) maintains centralized event logs with date/time stamp for all users that have granted access to the system, and (4) keeps track of all their movement activities across the premises, allowing for further analysis of their behavior during working hours. All of these functions are mainly intended to: (1) be carried out automatically and wirelessly with neither human intervention nor slowing down the organization’s workflow, (2) avoid installation cost overhead, (3) minimize the running cost, (4) simplify system repairs and shorten it downtime, and (5) allow for future upgrades with almost little or no hardware changes along with slight firmware code modifications. The proposed system is implemented as a fully-working prototype model
that presents both the hardware and firmware aspects of the design. It employs RFID technology, ZigBee wireless communication standard, and programmable chips from XMOS to achieve the designated purpose.
Thanks to XMOS leading technology, the proposed system is built with a modular philosophy, which allows the system to be tailored to meet the ever differentiated customer needs in short time frames with efficient use
of hardware components and minimized software development budget. The built prototype shows success of the proposed system and hence it is promising for physical implementation in real systems at larger scales.

? Company Activity:
- Petroleum Pipelines Company (PPC) is one of the largest Egyptian petroleum companies. It is spread-geographically all over the country. Its main activity is to transfer crude oil from production companies, where
crude oil is extracted, to petroleum refineries, as well as the transfer of petroleum products (benzene, gasoil, … etc.) from petroleum refineries to distribution companies and major consumers. This transfer is mainly performed using the large petroleum pipelines network owned by the company and spread throughout the country.
- PPC has its own private communication network for voice, data, VHF/UHF, and SCADA among its various sites through its own PABX systems, computer servers, microwave links, VHF/UHF wireless equipment, and SCADA terminals.

? General Duties and Responsibilities:
- I'm a member of the Instrumentation and IT/Telecommunications team that is responsible for the installation, upgrade, operation, fault diagnosis, and maintenance of the control and communication systems owned by the
